Curious about the club? Read on!
The original members came together as a club in June 1992 under the sponsorship of a Port Huron Camera Store. We used the store’s club name for a while, but decided to break off and have an independent club. We meet on a monthly basis and are known as the Blue Water Shutterbugs Camera Club. In addition, our club is a member of the Blue Water Arts Council. In 2017 we joined the Greater Detroit Camera Club Council . As a member, our club participates in photographic competitions along with 10 other clubs within the greater metropolitan Detroit area.
Educational meetings are held on the second Wednesday of odd months. Our competition meetings are held on the third Wednesday every month except July and August.
During the Lent/Advent season some meetings will be held on Thursdays at 7pm.
Our club meets at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 3970 West Water Street, Port Huron.
Guests and new members are always welcome.
Each Shutterbug member brings richness and variety to our club with photographic skills ranging from novice to professional.
We have an annual competition called the Membership Award. Club members have one year to make a spectacular photograph illustrating the chosen topic. Examples include topics like America the Beautiful, Early America and book titles. This competition is a challenging and rewarding task. The award is based on popular vote by all Blue Water Shutterbug members in attendance.
The club travels to places of photographic interest throughout the year and we also have photo professionals who come to share their knowledge during our educational meetings.
Most members have a variety of items for sale...from framed or matted prints, note cards, magnets and special one of a kind items.
To feature member’s work, we have exhibited as a club in:
· Port Huron Museum of Art and History
· Port Huron Art Fest and Art Hop
· Port Huron Art on the Avenue
· St. Clair Art Fair
· Marysville Art in the Park
· Lexington Art Fair
· Studio 1219
· Lake Huron Medical Center
Additionally, any one of our members are happy to work with you by providing you with a quote on a custom print or order.
Consider visiting our Blue Water Shutterbugs Camera Club and focus on the many benefits of being a
Blue Water Shutterbug member. You'll discover there is more than one way to view the world! See you soon!
